Collecting teddy Bears
Help!!!! They are taking over my world as I type this!!! There seems to be an overabundance lately of sweet little stuffed critters of all shapes and sizes, and I just cannot seem to stop allowing them into my home! What is a girl to do? Collecting. These days I seem to collect everything, including dust. But my passion, what I will spend countless hours searching for in magazines, the net, on ebay, and on etsy for, are these cuddly little creations termed "artist bears". They are not mass-produced; rather, a small piece of someone's art created with two loving hands and thousands of stitches. Now, don't get me wrong, I love creating these little guys as well. I am a bear artist, for heaven's sake! But the beauty of these little critters is that they are each unique, and no two will ever be the same! I suppose you could attribute this addiction to my oppositional stance toward mass-produced, factory- made objects. Or just that I may indeed have fallen off the deep end. Whatever the case may be, these teddies are a cherished part of my life, whether it be collecting them, or creating them! But be warned: if you happen to type in "artist bears" on your browser's search engine- be prepared to be inundated with thousands of sweet little handstitched faces just beckoning for you to take them home! |
